I’m looking for a good to-do list manager, and stumbled on this one. I cannot use it because it ’s not available on windoze platforms, and that’s just too bad _ i love the interface idea…Taskspace – a two-dimensional todo-list manager

How to do much good to a website without much money
A nice man contacted me a while ago, asking for help on his website dedicated to an outstanding region of Belgium yet unknown to many people: the “chaine des terrils”.
Well, the man did not have much of a budget and asks for help on getting rid of frames and redesign. His website was made by himself with Frontpage. You can imagine what looked the source like…
Anyway, because budget was scarce, i proposed him that i would create a header and footer to be (php) included at runtime. I would thus be controling the css , javascript calls as well as the meta information and the first tags after the body tags, and the ending tags. So the html rendering process was made via three files:
- config.inc.php file: containing the ob_gzhandler (compressing the output for faster download) as well as the and doctype tags
- header.inc.php: contains the metatags, javascript, css up to the creation of the containing div
- footer.inc.php: contains the closing tags, as well as a call to a bbclone installation , so he can track his site visits.
That was my part of the job. Now, his part was to include the following code to all his pages, clean up the html using dreamweaver (i’m amazed how easily he picked up from frontpage to dreamweaver, the guys at macromedia did make a tool usable to pure html amateurs).
and tags. //////////////////////////////////////////// ? >
And here is the result : Bienvenue dans la Chaîne des Terrils!
Now, clever, or what ?

Today, i had a good and a bad surprise. Good first ? Sure !
Article 27 website is featured on one of the two most read French-speaking Belgian newspapers “Le Soir”, in its internet-dedicated magazine “La vie du Net”. Cool, and thank you for the publicity for Article 27, which is an excellent initiative.
Now, the bad news. Well it’s not really a news, because i kindda suspected it, but didn’t take the time to investigate, and just checked for IE 6 and firefox 1+ on PC.
Anyway: look at the printscreen: the layout the journalist experienced was screwed up !

Ok, so i wrote them a mail asking for the config, as i am guessing there are some apples and / or explorers tagged with a few “5″ versioning.
I don’t have a Mac (yet) but i can already investigate with old IE versions. So, to fullfill the task of having a proper rendering on most popular browsers, i thought it would be neat to be able to run different versions of Internet Explorer, 5.0, 5.5 and 6. After googling for a while i stumbled, with awe and surprise, on Evolt Browser archive.
There you will be able to find several standalone versions of Internet explorer, version from 3 to 7 beta 1 (as of Nov. 25, 2005).
This doesn’t mean i’ll have it solved any time soon, but i surely be working on it.
